Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The coordinator of the Provincial Circle of the National Assembly in Cuanza Norte, Leonor Garibaldi, pointed out this Wednesday the rehabilitation of roads, the reinforcement of water supply and electricity to the population as priority actions for the economic development of the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

The politician, who was speaking to the press, at the end of a meeting of the group of deputies residing in Cuanza Norte with the Provincial Governor, Pedro Makita, stressed that without roads there is no development.<\/p>\n

Cuanza Norte, he said, is a land very rich in natural resources and has great agricultural potential, but without roads the agricultural sector does not develop and, as a consequence, there is no industrial progress.<\/p>\n

Regarding the supply of electricity, the deputy recalled that all municipalities in the province, including some communes, are already electrified, but the objective, she pointed out, is for the entire territory to be covered.<\/p>\n

Taking into account the available resources and the territorial extension, Leonor Garibaldi suggested a gradual solution to the problems, defining priorities.<\/p>\n

The visit of the group of deputies residing in Cuanza Norte aimed at presenting the 2022\/2023 activity plan of the Provincial Circle of the National Assembly, which, as he informed, was already approved in Plenary, in December 2022 and there was a need to make the official delivery to the governor.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that the plan of activities provides for various actions such as visits to municipalities, meetings with civil society, traditional authorities, religious entities and interaction with the population to listen to concerns and find solutions with institutions.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, Governor Pedro Makita took stock of the province’s situation, precisely the issue of water supply, mainly to the municipality of Cazengo, within the framework of the Lucala and Lussue, Golungo Alto and Cambambe projects.<\/p>\n

Deputies also learn about the implementation of Public Investment projects and the Integrated Intervention Program in Municipalities.<\/p>\n

Regarding the works paralyzed due to lack of payment, Leonor Garibaldi informed that they will be completed within the framework of the budget allocated to the province.<\/p>\n

As for the families affected by the rain, whose houses were destroyed, he informed that, after verifying the reality in the place, the group of deputies visited Catome de Cima, in an area of \u200b\u200bthree hectares, where they will be relocated.<\/p>\n

Taking into account the situation in which the families find themselves, the deputies suggested the acquisition of tents so that they can be temporarily sheltered during this period of rain that lasts until the first half of May.<\/p>\n

He said that the group of deputies in the province will closely monitor the government’s actions to see if what the population needs is being fulfilled.<\/p>\n

The group of deputies residing in the province of Cuanza Norte has six members, three representing the MPLA and the same number from UNITA. Five of these deputies are part of the Provincial Circle (three from the MPLA and two from UNITA), the other (from UNITA) is part of the National Circle.<\/p>\n
