Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, is in Doha, capital of Qatar, from the 5th to the 9th of March, in the early hours of this Saturday, to participate in the 5th United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDCs).<\/b><\/p>\n

The conference constitutes an opportunity, in this decade, to accelerate the process of sustainable development.<\/p>\n

To this end, international assistance and support are key in order to unlock their full potential and ensure that LDCs are able to find their own path to prosperity, adds the communication.<\/p>\n

During the conference, whose theme is \u201cFrom Potential to Prosperity\u201d, Heads of State and Government will meet with the private sector, civil society, parliamentarians and young people to present new ideas, redefine support and encourage compliance with the commitments agreed through the Doha Action Programme.<\/p>\n

Plenary sessions, high-level thematic round tables and a series of parallel events are planned, some dedicated to the Private Sector, Young People, Parliamentarians and South-South cooperation.<\/p>\n

With the Vice-President of the Republic are in the Qatari capital, among other entities, the Minister of Economy and Planning, Ma\u0301rio Augusto Caetano Joa\u0303o, the Minister of the Environment, Ana Paula Chantre Luna de Carvalho, the Secretaries of State for International Cooperation and Communities Angolans and for Commerce, respectively, Domingos Vieira Lopes and Amadeu Leita\u0303o Nunes.<\/p>\n

Also part of the delegation are Angola’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the State of Qatar, Anto\u0301nio Coelho Ramos da Cruz, representatives of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, parliament, Angolan Public Companies and civil society.<\/p>\n

The first United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries was held in Paris, in 1981, the second, in 1990, also in Paris, the third, in 2001, in Brussels, hosted by the European Union, the fourth in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2011.<\/p>\n
