Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary general of the Organization of Angolan Women (OMA), Joana Toma\u0301s, this Saturday appealed to women and society in general to denounce cases of sexual abuse against children, in order to inhibit this practice and guarantee the safety of that child social fringe.<\/b><\/p>\n

Joana Toma\u0301s was speaking to the press after a march \u201cagainst sexual abuse of children\u201d, which brought together hundreds of women from various social strata.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

He said that the silence of families who suffer domestic violence has been worrying, and it is necessary to strengthen family skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not just girls, but also boys who suffer this type of violence, so we are calling for a complaint because domestic violence and sexual abuse of children are public crimes, and any member of society can report it\u201d, said the official. .<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Joana Toma\u0301s also exhorted traditional authorities and communities, stressing that in the past cases of this kind were not recorded very often, hence that efforts must be joined for children to feel protected within their families.<\/p>\n

According to the secretary general of the OMA, the number of complaints has been worrying, yes, but it is not enough.<\/p>\n

Joana Toma\u0301s made it known that the march against child sexual abuse is a movement that started yesterday and will last until the end of the year.<\/p>\n

The leader informed, on the other hand, that the social partners are proposing the revision of the law against domestic violence, a concern that will be presented to the Executive and later to the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the children’s singer Luisliana Ngola, under 10 years old, asked, on behalf of all Angolan children, for security, peace and protection, since little ones cannot defend themselves against adults.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don’t want to live in a dangerous home and for those who have that thought it’s good that they let the children grow up in peace, so that we can be competent future leaders to serve this country. So please don’t make us scared,’ she expressed.<\/p>\n

According to data from the National Children’s Institute (INAC), from January to February of the current year, 97 cases of sexual abuse of minors were registered throughout the country. However, to report crimes of violence against children, citizens can call 15015.SL\/MDS\/OHA toll free.<\/p>\n
