Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The municipal administrators in Cunene admitted Monday, that the new Political-Administrative Division (DPA) will represent a decisive strategy for the Executive, in solving the social problems of the population.<\/b><\/p>\n

The administrators of the municipalities of Namacunde, Ombadja and Cuanhama stated that the implementation of the DPA will bring services closer together and consequently improve the quality of life of citizens.<\/p>\n

The administrator of Namacunde, Cristiana Nameomuno, said that the proposal to elevate the communes to municipalities is a strategy of the Angolan Executive that could improve the basic conditions and quality of life of the communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am specifically referring to health services, education, projects related to water supply, energy supply and the improvement of communication routes\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Cristiana Nameomuno stressed that in the phase of presentation and consultation of the proposal, the population expressed satisfaction with the government’s initiative, as it represents the path to progress.<\/p>\n

Administrator of Ombadja, Elizeth Mwamelongi, referred that the measure will promote proximity governance and facilitate management.<\/p>\n

He explained that Ombadja has a territorial extension of 12,264 kilometers and a population density of 28 inhabitants per kilometer, with the implementation of the DPA the citizens expect benefits.<\/p>\n

The official said that in these areas, the growth of social and economic infrastructures will be visible, new opportunities for citizens living in remote areas and will allow combating inequalities.<\/p>\n

For his part, the administrator of Cuanhama, Jose\u0301 Kalomo, acknowledged that the territories are vast and the population lives in a dispersed manner, which makes it difficult for the government to put in place some development projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the Oshimolo commune. Its population travels 150 kilometers to the city of Ondjiva to process the Identity Card, if it becomes a municipality, the services will be closer\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Kalomo said that the Political-Administrative Division should increase the number of registry offices, municipal hospitals, schools and police units.<\/p>\n

Cunene province, which has six municipalities and 20 communes, with the new administrative political division, will now have 20 municipalities.<\/p>\n

The draft Bill for the Amendment of the Political-Administrative Division of Angola aims to improve the quality of life and bring basic social services closer to citizens.<\/p>\n

The bill, already in possession of the National Assembly, provides, in essence, to increase the number from 18 to 20 provinces, Moxico and Cuando Cubango by two each and increase from 164 to 581 municipalities in the country.<\/p>\n
