Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Contrary to previous years, where women were denied teaching and health care professions, currently there are several women in Cunene province, who opted for professional technical activities dominated by men.<\/b><\/p>\n

With female empowerment policies, there is a growing number of women who have overcome barriers, facing courage and determination, gradually reversing the obstacles of gender prejudice.<\/p>\n

As part of the “Marc\u0327o Mulher” journey, press spoke this Tuesday with some women in order to address technical overcoming and the barriers they had to overcome to achieve success, which can serve as inspiration to others in the sense of following the same branch.<\/p>\n

The plumbing technician at the Cunene Water and Sanitation Company, Kaino Oshotwapewa, said that she has been developing the profession for 8 years, in an initial contract with the Cuban company Embondex.<\/p>\n

She stresses that she was part of the technical team that connected the pipeline network to the city of Ondjiva, on the Anhanga line and on the border of Santa Clara.<\/p>\n

Graduated from the National Professional Training Institute of Ondjiva, she said it was a challenge and over time she adapted, today she works on overcoming ruptures, connecting, cutting and reconnecting, installing meters, opening new water networks, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are a team made up of eight boys and a single woman and we managed to satisfy customer complaints, especially regarding the water seal, lack of parts, making new connections through the main branch of the pipe\u201d, he maintained.<\/p>\n

She encouraged other women to take technical courses, as, in professional terms, nothing inhibits gender differences<\/p>\n

In turn, the technician from the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) Cunene, Anuarith Se\u0301rgio, said that he carries out any repair work for domestic faults, on the electricity grid, requalification of low voltage electrification lines.<\/p>\n

At just 27 years old, he stressed that despite being a completely masculine environment, he tries to overcome himself on a daily basis, dedicating himself with diligence and determination to overcome fear and serve his country.<\/p>\n

He regretted the fact that the sector only has two women, inviting other young women not to be afraid to face new challenges, opting for technical training to compete on an equal footing with men.<\/p>\n

Vero\u0301nica Gimi, a trainee on the locksmith and welding course at the Oifidi Integrated Technical and Professional Training Centre, said that from an early age she opted for challenging trades.<\/p>\n

At the age of 31, he also took courses in carpentry, low electricity, anticipating the next academic year to enroll in the specialty of painting and stucco.<\/p>\n

For the trainees, the option of these technical courses is a reality that comes to break the barriers and taboos that part of the technique is only for men and women are denied decoration, pastry, cooking or sewing.<\/p>\n

He made it known that the option he inherited from his father, because, as a child, he helped him in carpentry and quarry work.<\/p>\n

Without having a steady job, her dream is to open a service workshop in different specialties.<\/p>\n

According to data from the General Population and Housing Census carried out in 2014, Angola has 28.4 million inhabitants, of which 52 percent are women.<\/p>\n
