Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Five thousand and 820 inhabitants of Mucupe commune, Ombadja municipality, Cunene province, stopped traveling long distances in search of water, with the inauguration, this Wednesday, of a collection system and vaccination sleeve in the localities from Fimba-ya-Holo and Kambumda.<\/b><\/p>\n

Built within the framework of the Program for Strengthening and Resilience and Food and Nutritional Security in Angola (FRESAN), the infrastructure, in addition to guaranteeing access to water for the population, will allow the watering of 20,000 head of cattle.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the municipal administrator of Ombadja, Elizeth Mwamelungi, praised FRESAN’s partnership in the construction and rehabilitation of hydraulic infrastructures in the region, which are gradually overcoming the lack of water in rural communities.<\/p>\n

He said that FRESAN’s actions have had a positive impact on the aspirations of the population, in which water and rural sanitation, adaptation to agricultural systems, nutritional support and food security are part of the Angolan Government’s programme.<\/p>\n

He asked the beneficiary community to take care of the goods made available, not allowing vandalism, in order to guarantee their operability.<\/p>\n

With a global value of 65 million euros, FRESAN is funded by the European Union and co-managed by the Camo\u0303es Institute, and aims to reduce hunger, poverty and vulnerability in communities affected by drought in the provinces of Hui\u0301la, Cunene and Namibe.<\/p>\n
