Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), Francisco da Cruz, met, Thursday (10), with the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, the Nigerian Bankole Adeoye, with whom he discussed the preparation of the Extraordinary Summit on Combating Terrorism and Unconstitutional Regime Changes in Africa, to be held in May, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event was proposed in 2020 by the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, and at the time deserved the approval of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, Commissioner Bankole Adeoye praised the country for the vision that the Angolan Head of State had in drawing the continent’s attention to reflect and find ways to combat the scourges of terrorism and unconstitutional regime changes that affect the attainment of the objectives of the Agenda 2063, especially with regard to silencing the guns and the economic development of Africa.<\/p>\n

The two diplomats also considered important to mark the discussion around the insertion of Angolan staff in the Department of Political Affairs, for Peace and Security of the African Union.<\/p>\n
