Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Five hotels and a sports venue were inspected this Saturday by the African Handball Confederation (CAHB) with a view to the pre-Olympic tournament that Angola is hosting from 10 to 12 October this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

The inspection was coordinated by the Senegalese Aissa Sy and the Angolan Lui\u0301s Pla\u0301cido, both inspectors of the body that oversees the sport on the continent.<\/p>\n

For seven hours, they visited the Kilamba Multipurpose pavilion, the Dream Space tourist complex, the Victoria Garden, HCTA, Palmeiras and Be\u0301u Mar hotels, all south of Luanda.<\/p>\n

In brief statements to the press, Aissa Sy said she was mandated to investigate the conditions and subsequently forward the report to the executive committee of the CAHB.<\/p>\n

The also vice-president of the Handball Federation of Senegal said “I came to fulfill a mission and then I will make a final report to the decision-making bodies of the Confederation”.<\/p>\n

On his turn, the vice-president of the Angolan Handball Federation (FAAND), Domingos Nascimento, referred that the inspector had a good impression of the places visited on this first day of work.<\/p>\n

“The most important thing for us as hosts was to create conditions so that these infrastructures could respond to what is required by the CAHB”, she argued, without, however, listing them.<\/p>\n

The official ends the visit on Sunday with a trip to the Luanda General Hospital, the “Cardeal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento” hospital complex and the Sagrada Esperanc\u0327a Clinic, in the Talatona area.<\/p>\n

In addition to the senior women’s National Team, the pre-Olympic tournament will be played by counterparts from Cameroon, Senegal and Congo, the top four classified in the African Championship, played in 2022, in Dakar (Senegal).<\/p>\n

This is the third time that Angola will host the pre-Olympic tournament, after the 2006 and 2015 editions, respectively, at the Cidadela pavilion.<\/p>\n

Angola has already competed in the Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996), Sydney (2000), Athens (2004), Beijing (2008), London (2012), Rio de Janeiro (2006) and Tokyo (2020).<\/p>\n
