Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, evaluated, this Sunday, in separate meetings, the bilateral cooperation with Zambia and Serbia.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the meeting with the President of the Parliament of Zambia, Nelly Mutti, he reaffirmed the need to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, in general, and particularly between the two parliaments, as a way for parliamentarians to contribute to the development of communities, promotion and preservation of peace, democracy and the well-being of populations.<\/p>\n

Carolina Cerqueira mentioned the fields of education, food security, agriculture, free movement and mobility of people, commercial exchanges and the availability of resources to catalyze mutual development.<\/p>\n

With regard to Angolans residing in Zambia, as refugees, Carolina Cerqueira stressed the need for joint work between the two parliaments to break down barriers to social inclusion.<\/p>\n

Carolina Cerqueira also highlighted the commitment to reviving in the minds of the young generations the benefits of the common struggle for the conquest of independence in both countries, as well as the need for concertation between the two parliaments in actions related to the promotion of gender policies, inclusion of youth in parliaments , cybersecurity, primary health care, among other domains.<\/p>\n

Conflict in the DRC<\/p>\n

The AN President also pointed to the need for Zambia to contribute to the process of pacification in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), whose war could affect the two neighboring countries.<\/p>\n

By the way, the President of the Parliament of Zambia expressed her country’s availability to contribute, in an active and effective way, in the resolution of the conflict.<\/p>\n

Angola\/Serbia<\/p>\n

Still on the sidelines of the afternoon session of the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IUP), Carolina Cerqueira held a meeting with the Serbian delegation.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, bilateral cooperation between the two countries and parliaments was discussed.<\/p>\n

It should be remembered that during the event, parliamentarians will analyze the organization’s strategies on climate change, accountability at all levels, as well as the transformation of speeches into actions to combat climate change.<\/p>\n

The approach also includes reinforcement of climate legislation to reduce carbon gas emissions and support for a clean energy transition.<\/p>\n

The Inter-Parliamentary Union is made up of 178 national parliaments and 12 regional assemblies. It is currently the main parliamentary interlocutor of the United Nations.<\/p>\n
