Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary general of the National Assembly, Pedro Agostinho de Neri, reaffirmed, in Manama, the commitment to technological modernization, as a way of providing the House of Laws with mechanisms to approach citizens.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the 146th General Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IUP), Pedro de Neri said that the AN seeks, with its commitment to modernization, to keep the doors open so that citizens can closely follow the work of deputies and contribute in an active and participatory way.<\/p>\n

Pedro de Neri, who participates in the meetings of the Association of Parliamentary Secretaries General, within the framework of the 146th General Assembly of the IUP, added that the AN is looking for, from the communities, more valences for the better performance of its missions.<\/p>\n

To this end, he pointed out the project to open parliamentary television and radio channels as mechanisms to approach the voting public and benefit from parliamentary activity.<\/p>\n

In order to better carry out its duties, Pedro de Neri said that the AN is also equipping itself with mechanisms to protect computer systems taking into account cyber attacks.<\/p>\n

“In the global world we live in, it is important that deputies feel safe in the performance of their duties. We have been creating defense mechanisms, improving services, an essential condition for the protection of the computer systems of the Angolan parliament”, he asserted.<\/p>\n

In the chapter of cooperation with other counterparts, Agostinho de Neri considered it to be fluid, pointing out examples at the level of the CPLP, the African regions, among others.<\/p>\n

It should be remembered that during the event, parliamentarians will analyze the organization’s strategies on climate change, accountability at all levels, as well as the transformation of speeches into actions to combat climate change.<\/p>\n

The approach also includes reinforcement of climate legislation to reduce carbon gas emissions and support for a clean energy transition.<\/p>\n

The Inter-Parliamentary Union is made up of 178 national parliaments and 12 regional assemblies. It is currently the main parliamentary interlocutor of the United Nations.<\/p>\n
