Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Zimbabwean ambassador to Angola, Thando Madzvamuse, said Thursday, in Luena, that his country intends to invest in the Angolan agricultural sector, to help in the process of diversifying the economy.<\/b><\/p>\n

Thando Madzvamuse, who was speaking at the end of his 24-hour visit to the city of Luena, considered it important for the two countries to translate political relations into economic ones.<\/p>\n

Having recognized the Angolan government’s efforts to diversify the economy, the diplomat stated that the investment in the non-oil sector is the same as Zimbabwe does, in order not to maintain just a single source of revenue.<\/p>\n

Thando Madzvamuze said that there are many opportunities for cooperation between the two countries, while highlighting Zimbabwe’s ability to offer varied training in the agricultural field. “We have companies specialized in agricultural production, especially in the cultivation of maize, tomato and onion, which are available to come to Angola to support the agricultural sector”, he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, his country’s investment in the agricultural sector can be an asset and can make Africa maintain its intentions of fighting poverty and, later, have advantages for exporting products outside the continent.<\/p>\n

The ambassador of Zimbabwe recognized the potential of the Angolan soil and underlined that a large part of this territory has constant rainfall, a fundamental condition for the practice of agriculture. Angola has cooperation with Zimbabwe in the sectors of policy, defense and security, agriculture, tourism, transport and staff training.<\/p>\n

During his stay in Moxico, the Zimbabwean ambassador to Angola visited the town of Boma (outskirts of Luena), a region that could host a memorial to honor 1,500 former Zimbabwean independence fighters, murdered, in this district of Moxico, the 26 February, by the racist South African army.<\/p>\n
