Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IUP), Duarte Pacheco, announces an extraordinary assembly in Luanda, corresponding to the aspirations of the members of the successful organization.<\/b><\/p>\n

The 147th General Assembly of the IUP is scheduled for October this year in the Angolan capital, organized by the National Assembly (AN).<\/p>\n

For this purpose, AN took advantage of its participation in the Bahrain event to exchange experience and information with its other counterparts, as well as promoting the next assembly, with a stand with information on the country’s potential in the most diverse fields, from the political, economic and cultural.<\/p>\n

Duarte Pacheco, who was speaking to the Angolan press after a meeting with the President of the AN, Carolina Cerqueira, highlighted the personal commitment of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, for the success of the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next assembly will be a success. It is true that nothing is perfect, because we are all human beings and there are always some mistakes, but Angola has everything to do better and differently in this edition\u201d, she asserted.<\/p>\n

The event, which will focus on issues related to climate change and development, will, in the opinion of Duarte Pacheco, serve as a world political center for Angola.<\/p>\n

Regarding the meeting with Carolina Cerqueira, Duarte Pacheco said that it served to exchange impressions and experience, taking into account the prospects for the conclave in Angola.<\/p>\n

Angola-Vietnam Cooperation<\/p>\n

On his turn, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, expressed the desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Angola, in the most varied domains, with particular emphasis on education, culture and agriculture.<\/p>\n

Tran Thanh Man also made mention of sharing experience in the manufacturing industry and fisheries.<\/p>\n

In response, Carolina Cerqueira emphasized parliamentary diplomacy, focusing on promoting peaceful coexistence between peoples, dialogue as a way to end conflicts and tolerance.<\/p>\n

Carolina Cerqueira stressed that the AN is committed to carrying out actions aimed at promoting peace, initiatives for the end of armed conflicts, regional integration in the fields of defence, gender, environment, as well as strengthening cooperation with parliamentarians from all over the world.<\/p>\n

It should be recalled that during the IUP’s 146th General Assembly, parliamentarians are analyzing the organization’s strategies on climate change, accountability at all levels, as well as the transformation of speeches into actions to combat climate change.<\/p>\n

The approach also includes reinforcement of climate legislation to reduce carbon gas emissions and support for a clean energy transition.<\/p>\n

The Inter-Parliamentary Union is made up of 178 national parliaments and 12 regional assemblies. It is currently the main parliamentary interlocutor of the United Nations.<\/p>\n
