{"id":30186,"date":"2023-03-21T14:20:37","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T14:20:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/artisanal-fishing-and-aquaculture-project-covers-more-than-15-thousand-families"},"modified":"2023-03-21T15:32:18","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T15:32:18","slug":"artisanal-fishing-and-aquaculture-project-covers-more-than-15-thousand-families","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/artisanal-fishing-and-aquaculture-project-covers-more-than-15-thousand-families","title":{"rendered":"Artisanal fishing and aquaculture project covers more than 15 thousand families"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>Fifteen thousand and 250 families from the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Cuanza Norte and Malanje, benefited from training actions in the fields of exploration of artisanal waters, fish processing and aquaculture, in an investment co-financed by the Angolan government and the International Fund for and Agricultural Development (IFAD).<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Budgeted at around US$12 million, the Project to Support Artisanal Fishing and Aquaculture (AFAP) aimed to promote fishing cooperatives, as well as the transmission of knowledge on good practices for exploiting the lakes.<\/p>\n<p>Monday, the person in charge of the Ministry of Fisheries for Monitoring, Follow-up and Evaluation of the project, Jucineia Gonc\u0327alves, said that in addition to the fishing component in the three provinces, 250 families from the province of Malanje were also involved, in the of aquaculture.<\/p>\n<p>The project aimed to improve techniques for capturing, rearing and processing fish, contrary to rudimentary practices, which put many aquatic species at risk, and to present a product of acceptable quality for human consumption, in accordance with international standards.<\/p>\n<p>Beneficiaries were equipped with knowledge on hygiene at landing ports, fish processing, product packaging, community health and literacy.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that the implementation of this water resources management model also allows this fringe of society to know how to deal with natural phenomena, in different seasons of the year, often seen as a strangling factor in fishing activity.<\/p>\n<p>Jucineia Gonc\u0327alves refers that the country has enormous amounts of artisanal and continental waters, which must be well explored, in order to offer good quality products, within a multidimensional perspective.<\/p>\n<p>With the results achieved, which she considered satisfactory, a report will be produced to be submitted to the appreciation of the higher bodies of the Ministry of Fisheries, for in-depth studies, on the future of continental waters, artisanal waters and aquaculture in the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
