Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The vice-governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure in Cunene, Anto\u0301nio Matias, Wednesday encouraged members of civil society to participate more in actions to combat corruption, underway in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the 2nd community forum on transparency in treasury management, Anto\u0301nio Matias, asked for greater involvement in the anti-corruption program, with a view to improving public management.<\/p>\n

\u201cSociety must reflect on the negative factors of corruption that have been delaying the socio-economic development of the country, as well as the social well-being of Angolans\u201d, he pointed out.<\/p>\n

He said that the forum arises to strengthen citizens on the mechanisms and procedures that promote transparency in the management of public funds.<\/p>\n

He recalled that as measures to discipline and inhibit the possible practice of corruption by public managers, the National Assembly approved the \u201cPublic Probity Law\u201d, Law no 3\/2010 of March 29.<\/p>\n

The official said that the country is experiencing a new era, so managers must be guided by rigor and austerity in terms of public financial management, in order to fulfill the wishes of the population.<\/p>\n

“They must make themselves available to challenges, opportunities and good practices, rushing to better evaluate policies and increase fiscal responsibilities”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

Anto\u0301nio Matias underlined the fact that the Angolan Executive is focused on projects and programs aimed at different sectors, within the scope of the Integrated Plan of Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).<\/p>\n

The Executive Director of the National Counseling Center (CCN), Manuel Modesto, said that at Cuanhama level, the forum aims to bring residents closer to the State’s Local Administration.<\/p>\n

Manuel Modesto referred that the event is part of the testing process for local authorities, still without a date, on proximity in accountability, but within the scope of administration and government projects.<\/p>\n

The forum, which lasted for one day, had as its main point the presentation of the implementation and management of the PIIM, as well as the Fight Against Poverty Program in the municipality of Cuanhama.<\/p>\n

The PIIM, in Cuanhama, includes 12 projects, with a budget of two billion, 702 million, 415 thousand, 550 kwanzas and 62 cents.<\/p>\n

The province of Cunene was contemplated with 135 projects, of which 109 are the responsibility of municipal administrations, 26 of the provincial government and five of central subordination.<\/p>\n
