Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and Namibia defined strategies to combat cross-border crimes, including trafficking in human beings, drugs (cocaine) and weapons, in a bilateral meeting that ended Wednesday in Cunene province.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was released this Thursday, in a note, by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Cunene, stressing that the strategy includes measures against the smuggling of vehicles, miscellaneous goods, theft and theft of cattle, as well as the location of fugitives, by both countries.<\/p>\n

According to the document, which cites the communique\u0301 of the meeting, the two delegations considered it essential to share information on crimes that occur on the common border and to reinforce<\/p>\n

joint actions to combat border crime.<\/p>\n

The meeting was coordinated by the director of SIC in Cunene, sub-commissioner Caca Wamatende, on the Angolan side, and by the Head of the Division for Combating Terrorism in Namibia, Chief Inspector Paulus Kondjeni Lukas.<\/p>\n

During its stay in Cunene, the Namibian delegation visited<\/p>\n

the Peu-Peu prison, where it maintained contact with some Namibian detainees involved in different crimes.<\/p>\n

The visit also enabled the Namibian delegation to track some vehicles seized in Cunene, coming from that country, in violation of customs legislation. These are vehicles seized at the Customs Inspection post in Xangongo.<\/p>\n

The occasion also served to verify the border markers, 19 to 20, in the Angolan towns of Santa-Clara and Okatale.<\/p>\n

The Republics of Angola and Namibia share a border of 1,367 kilometers.<\/p>\n
