Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary general of OMA, Joana Toma\u0301s, said this Thursday in Mbanza Kongo, province of Zaire, that Angolan women have always been present on various fronts and stages that led the country to national independence and peace definitive.<\/b><\/p>\n

The OMA secretary general made this statement to the press, as part of her 72-hour working visit to Zaire, which began this Thursday.<\/p>\n

The leader of the MPLA women’s organization particularly highlighted the presence of women in the famous battle of Cuito Cuanavale, who, even though they were not at the front, supported the troops in the trenches.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen have always been present on all fronts. In Cuito Cuanavale, for example, where I had the great pleasure of working, I heard reports from many women who were present in the military forces\u201d, she pointed out.<\/p>\n

With the achievement of definitive peace in the country, added the official, attention is now turned to the fight for equity and gender equality, as well as the fight against violence and sexual abuse of women and children.<\/p>\n

The first day of the visit, the program reserves the opening of an agricultural production and gastronomy fair, where women from the provinces of Zaire, Ui\u0301ge, Cabinda, Bengo and Cuanza Norte are exposing their potential.<\/p>\n
