Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and Brazil hold, on April 5 this year, in Brasi\u0301lia, the next session of the Joint Commission, for the deepening of diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation. <\/b><\/p>\n

For the preparation and implementation of this event, the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil on Wednesday, according to a press release issued this Thursday to press.<\/p>\n

During the telephone contact, the two leaders spoke of the privileged political relations between Angola and Brazil, geographical and cultural proximity that unite the two countries and peoples, as well as addressed issues related to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).<\/p>\n

Among the topics dealt with, emphasis should be given to strengthening the economic pillar proposed by Angola, through the creation of a structure dedicated to the subject within the organisation’s secretariat.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Brazilian official expressed interest in relaunching the strategic partnership with Angola, betting on a strong investment portfolio, estimated at 1.7 billion euros, for the energy, agro-industry, pharmaceutical, construction and tourism sectors.<\/p>\n

This cooperation also includes the rice cultivation programme, associated with an agro-industrial project for rice, maize and beans, by Brazilian company Ruzene, in partnership with Angolan company Si\u0301laba, which is being financially structured with an Angolan bank.<\/p>\n

Also on the Brazilian agenda is the agricultural development of irrigated perimeters, with a view to the Angolan Government’s projects to combat drought in Cunene and the country’s experience in irrigation and support for family farming.<\/p>\n

According to the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, Brazil’s experience in the agriculture and livestock sector is welcome, as it helps to promote and deepen cooperation in this field.<\/p>\n

Cooperation between Angola and Brazil began to take shape on June 11, 1980, with the signing of the Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Agreement.<\/p>\n

Under this agreement, the two countries developed cooperation in the areas of defence, health, culture, public administration, professional training, education, environment, sports, statistics and agriculture.<\/p>\n

Angola and Brazil have also worked to strengthen and deepen their relationship within the CPLP, with emphasis on issues of mobility agreements, investment facilitation and double taxation.<\/p>\n
