Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The former captain of the National Football Team, Fabrice Maieco Akwa\u0301, told in this city, that he returns to Nacional de Benguela to play only the Angola Cup games and officially bid farewell to the pitch.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the footballer, he received and accepted the offer to play in the next game of the Angola Cup, by his training club, Nacional de Benguela, which proposes to honor him, at the same time as Pedro Garcia, another great name of the club and of Angolan football.<\/p>\n

Akwa\u0301 explained that he signed a contract only to comply with legal formalities and be able to play in the second most important competition of the Angolan Football Federation.<\/p>\n

“If I play without complying with this legal requirement, Desportivo da Lunda Sul may protest the game”, he explained.<\/p>\n

He stated that he will not be present in other sports commitments of Nacional de Benguela, as he considers that he has already made his history in Angolan football and beyond.<\/p>\n

The former captain said that he has received calls from Angola and Portugal, from people questioning a possible return to football, to which he has replied that this will not happen.<\/p>\n

“It’s not with my 45 years of age that I’m going to play at the highest level and have a sporting season”, he justified.<\/p>\n

However, he said, if Nacional goes to another stage in the Angola Cup, they could play a second match, because they think they can still last at least 30 minutes on the field, since they never stopped training.<\/p>\n

He asked the fans to go to the stadium and witness the homage paid to him and Pedro Garcia, as well as to galvanize the team for victory.<\/p>\n

In the near future, Akwa\u0301 reveals that he hopes to embrace sports management to the detriment of a coaching career.<\/p>\n

Akwa\u0301 ended his career in 2008 playing for Petro de Luanda, after having represented several emblems in Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n

The athlete is considered the national team’s top scorer with 38 goals in 78 games, one of them particularly important, scored in 2005, in Rwanda, which qualified Angola for the unprecedented 2006 World Cup, held in Germany. CRB<\/p>\n

The scorer made his debut for Palancas Negras, the name of the Angolan team, on January 8, 1995,<\/p>\n
