Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Local Development Institute (FAS) is implementing in the provinces of Cuanza Norte, Ui\u0301ge, Zaire and Malanje a component of productive inclusion, intended to support and finance initiatives that generate income for vulnerable families, within the framework of the Social Transfer Program Currency (Kwenda).<\/b><\/p>\n

Starting this month, the first phase of productive inclusion will cover 150 citizens in ten municipalities in these provinces in the North region.<\/p>\n

Speaking Wednesday to the press, the Kwenda coordinator for the North region, Mauri\u0301cio da Costa, clarified that the productive inclusion actions of the Local Development Institute (FAS) also cover the creation of Integrated Social Action centers ( CAS), intended to support families in promoting income-generating activities.<\/p>\n

The coordination of the North region, he indicated, controls five CAS, distributed by the provinces of Zaire with two, Malanje (two) and one in Cuanza Norte.<\/p>\n

With regard to social monetary transfers, he informed that the provinces of Cuanza Norte, Malanje, Ui\u0301ge and Zaire currently have registered more than 135 thousand households, in 14 municipalities.<\/p>\n

Since the opening of the Kwenda project in 2020, around 3 billion kwanzas have been disbursed to pay financial benefits to vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

The payments are the result of a house-to-house registration of beneficiaries, preceded by the validation of the lists and insertion of those selected in the Kwenda program system.<\/p>\n

Among the main difficulties for carrying out the project in the region, Mauri\u0301cio Costa pointed out the poor condition of the roads, the existence of many districts without banking networks and coverage of the mobile telephone network.<\/p>\n

He said that the program adopts rigorous criteria for the selection of beneficiaries, which have allowed identifying citizens who use tricks to take benefits, without having the conditions for that purpose.<\/p>\n

Kwenda is an initiative of the Government of Angola that aims to support families in poverty and vulnerability across the country.<\/p>\n

Assessed at USD 420 million, the project is financed by the World Bank in the amount of USD 320 million and the Angolan government budgeted at USD 100 million, from the National Treasury<\/p>\n

. The Program is operationalized by FAS-Instituto de Desenvolvimento Local, a governmental agency, endowed with legal personality, financial and administrative autonomy. In coordination with other anti-poverty programs, FAS contributes to promoting sustainable development in communities.<\/p>\n
