Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan companies Rede Nacional de Transporte de Electricidade (RNT-EP) and the Mozambican Electricity Network (EDM) signed, this Wednesday, in Luanda, a cooperation agreement in the context of preparations for Angola’s entry into the electricity supply market. energy to the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).<\/b><\/p>\n

According to information from the RNT press office, the three-year, renewable protocol aims to reinforce existing relations for sharing experiences in the field of integration and business within the scope of SADC and in the interconnection with the Southern African Energy Pool ( SAPP).<\/p>\n

The agreement covers the areas of staff training, prevention and safety, project planning and management, design, construction, renovation and implementation of Works, as well as exchange in the areas of electricity markets, operation and maintenance of equipment, administration, finance and general services.<\/p>\n

The protocol was signed by the presidents of the Boards of Directors of RNT and EDM, respectively, Rui Gourgel and Marcelino Gildo Alberto.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, RNT CEO, Rui Gourgel informed that the protocol aims to gather experience in preparing management teams to enter the energy supply market in the countries of the region without major problems.<\/p>\n

The CEO of EDM, Marcelino Gildo Alberto, underlined that his company operates in the regional market through agreements with counterparts in South Africa, Swaziland and Zimbabwe and through the provision of surplus electricity production in the regional market.<\/p>\n

Angola, with a surplus of around 3.5 gigawatts, has the potential to enter this regional market, said the manager of the Mozambican company, which collects 20% of revenues from the sale of electricity to countries in the southern region.<\/p>\n
