Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The director of the Orthopedic Center of Lubango, Sebastia\u0303o Kwaba, 64 years old, was accused by the Public Ministry (MP) of embezzlement and participation in business.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a source with the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) in Hui\u0301la province, the MP’s accusation points out that at stake is an alleged embezzlement of one hundred million kwanzas, resulting from an alleged contract signed in 2018, verbally, between the orthopedist and a company in Lubango.<\/p>\n

According to the accusatory note from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, this supposed contract was intended for gardening work, which included the construction of roads, parking lots, refurbishment of the garden, porch and cleaning of the Orthopedic Center of Lubango, located in the Eywa urbanization.<\/p>\n

For this reason, says the source, the PGR opened a criminal case against Sebastia\u0303o Kwaba, registered under No. 506\/PGR\/SIC-3, in which seven more citizens are listed, including the owner of an equipment supply company hospitals, a 32-year-old young man.<\/p>\n

Among the co-defendants, according to the indictment, are six other people, including businessmen and civil servants. Among them, a 43-year-old businesswoman, owner of a company that provided cleaning services to the aforementioned centre, with a contract worth \u20ac121 million.<\/p>\n

Doctor Sebastia\u0303o Kwaba’s defense attorney, Domingos Quito Fernandes, confirmed the PGR’s notification regarding the lawsuit against his constituent and said he followed the preparatory instruction phase.<\/p>\n

Domingos Quito Fernandes guaranteed that despite the judgment of probability that is made of the crimes that weigh on his constituent, he still enjoys the principle of presumption of innocence under the terms of the law, stating that he prefers to wait for the conclusion of the process, which takes place in secret from justice, wait for the MP to present the burden of proof to support the guilt of his client.<\/p>\n

The suspect, Sebastia\u0303o Kwaba, has been director of the Lubango Orthopedic Center since 2014.<\/p>\n
