{"id":30904,"date":"2023-03-30T19:07:42","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T19:07:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/ifad-has-usd-28-million-for-family-farming-in-angola"},"modified":"2023-03-30T21:05:08","modified_gmt":"2023-03-30T21:05:08","slug":"ifad-has-usd-28-million-for-family-farming-in-angola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/ifad-has-usd-28-million-for-family-farming-in-angola","title":{"rendered":"IFAD has USD 28 million for family farming in Angola"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) may make available US$28 million to Angola, with a view to refinancing and filling the shortcomings of the Family Farming Resilience Reinforcement Project (SEREP).<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made this Wednesday, in Luanda, by the associate vice-president of the IFAD Program Management Division, Donal Brown, during an audience granted yesterday by the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Joa\u0303o da Cunha.<\/p>\n<p>According to a press release sent, the head of the delegation of this international institution, who is in Angola for a working visit to take place from the 28th to the 30th of this month, made it known that the amount to be made available is expected to benefit, at least at least three million families, an investment that intends to make the aforementioned project one of the largest in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Cited in a note from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MINAGRIF), Donal Brown expressed satisfaction with the progress and results obtained in projects already implemented in the country, despite some identified constraints.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Joa\u0303o da Cunha, made a general approach to the existing relationship between the Ministry and IFAD, presenting the growth indicators, with emphasis on the growth of the agricultural sector in the order of 5 .6%, in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Angolan leader, the growth estimate for this year is 4.6%, pointing to the domestic cultivation of basic basket products as one of the catalysts for this goal.<\/p>\n<p>He referred that the focus on the Family Farming Resilience Reinforcement Project and on other projects financed by IFAD is helping in the fight against hunger and poverty, as well as in the development of rural populations.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting between the heads of MINAGRIF and IFAD, topics related to the line of financing, management and development of projects financed by this UN institution, as well as future actions to be developed in Angola, were discussed.<\/p>\n<p>The international delegation, which is in Angola to see the execution of some projects in the sector being implemented in the country, is also made up of the associate vice-president and director of the Risk Management Department, Alberto Cogliati, and the director of this international institution , Custodio Mucavele.<\/p>\n<p>The International Fund for Agricultural Development is one of the agencies of the United Nations (UN), based in Rome, and, for this reason, the Angolan ambassador to Italy, Fa\u0301tima Jardim, attended this bilateral meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
