Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The representative of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola (CICA) in Cuanza Sul, Reverend Henriques Mulunga, defended, this Saturday, in the city of Sumbe, the need for Angolans to preserve peace and national stability, in favor of the country’s development .<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the ecumenical service of thanksgiving alluding to the Day of Peace and National Reconciliation, to be marked on Tuesday (April 4), the religious also advocated the strengthening of unity among Angolans, urging the Angolan people to celebrate the ephemeris with harmony and fraternity.<\/p>\n

According to the reverend, who was speaking on behalf of the churches affiliated to CICA, the religious congregations will continue to collaborate with the Executive in raising awareness among the populations for the preservation of peace and national reconciliation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must all always cultivate in our hearts feelings that contribute to the preservation of peace, which was conquered with a lot of sacrifice\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

In turn, the vice-governor for the technical sector and infrastructure, Heitor Alfredo, recalled that, since the achievement of peace in 2022, Cuanza Sul has registered significant gains, including the construction of roads, schools, hospitals, housing, water and electricity systems, among other infrastructures.<\/p>\n

For this reason, stressed the official, churches are called upon to make their contribution in raising awareness of the population in order to guide behaviors that contribute to the preservation of peace and social harmony.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to continue to count on your support in the mobilization of populations for the preservation of peace. We must live in unity, respecting our neighbors and political differences, because we are all Angolans\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n

Under the motto \u201cBuilding a better Angola\u201d, government members, representatives of political parties and churches affiliated to CICA participated in the ecumenical service.<\/p>\n

It was on April 4, 2002 that the Government and UNITA signed the Complementary Memorandum of Understanding to the Lusaka Protocol, which ended the war in the country.<\/p>\n
