Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) agreed to reinforce security measures along the common border and create a reference mechanism for the protection of victims of human trafficking in both countries.<\/b><\/p>\n

As recomendac\u0327o\u0303es ve\u0302m expressas no comunicado final do Fo\u0301rum Transfronteiric\u0327o sobre Fluxo Migrato\u0301rio, realizado no Dundo, provi\u0301ncia angolana da Lunda Norte, numa iniciativa do Ministe\u0301rio da Justic\u0327a e dos Direitos Humanos em parceria com a Organizac\u0327a\u0303o Internacional para as Migrac\u0327o\u0303es (IOM) e a Embaixada da RDC em Angola.<\/p>\n

O evento recomendou, igualmente, a institucionalizac\u0327a\u0303o de um “Fo\u0301rum Regional Transfronteiric\u0327o ” anual e a criac\u0327a\u0303o de um grupo te\u0301cnico com a missa\u0303o de detectar eventuais casos relacionados com o tra\u0301fico de pessoas, o reforc\u0327o do sistema de controlo documental e a protecc\u0327a\u0303o da crianc\u0327a na fronteira comum.<\/p>\n

The participants defended the resumption of the process of re-registration of immigrants from both countries, to better verify the flow, including raising awareness and daily surveillance among children and adults in peripheral areas and holding the forum in the two countries alternately, with the aim of to improve the exchange of information on the promotion and dissemination of human rights.<\/p>\n

During the event, the authorities of the DRC proposed to work towards the formation of mixed teams for surveillance at the borders, inventory of clandestine crossing routes, preparation of a map according to the length of the border, training of agents of various services of security and Border Guard, for the effective fight against human trafficking.<\/p>\n

The RDC assured that it will establish a permanent consultation framework between both countries through the Migration Services and Border Guard Police, study the possibility of implementing a manual of procedure regarding cases of detention of illegal immigrants, repatriations, returns and trafficking of human beings that can be overseen by a specific working group.<\/p>\n

The forum, held from 30 to 31 March, was attended by staff from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Ministry of the Interior, the DRC Embassy in Angola, civil society and local human rights committees.<\/p>\n

The meeting was part of the implementation plan of the national human rights strategy, to combat human trafficking and the Angola-IOM joint project, financed by the United States of America.<\/p>\n
