Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than 300,000 head of cattle will benefit from the bath against ticks, in Cunene province, with a view to combating the parasites that transmit scabies and dermatitis.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided, this Monday, by the head of the Veterinary department of Cunene, Cla\u0301udio Sima\u0303o, stressing that the bath against ticks is of paramount importance in order to improve the health of the animals.<\/p>\n

He said that the objective is to reduce the parasitic load within the bovine population, cutting the transmission cycle of diseases originating from bacteria, frequent in the rainy season.<\/p>\n

He justified that the tick is the transmission vector of external and internal diseases in cattle, with emphasis on desmatophilosis, scabies, anaplasmosis, tick fever, coat breakage, among others.<\/p>\n

The official said that currently ticks are increasingly recognized as important threats in terms of animal public health, a fact that requires an annual bath against this parasite.<\/p>\n

He said that the process opened on the 31st of March is taking place in synchrony with the animal vaccination campaign and will last for 90 days.<\/p>\n

Due to the reduced number of “bathroom tanks”, he said that the process will be limited to the existing staff in those localities that have veterinary infrastructures with coupled sleeves.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the great chief of Uia, Jose\u0301 Vitorino, expressed his satisfaction with the process that will eliminate the parasites that are currently affecting the herds in the district.<\/p>\n

He guaranteed that the breeders are mobilized in order to direct the cattle, in the vaccination sleeves, sustaining the existence of a high number of animals.<\/p>\n

Data from the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries office point to the registration of more than one million and 100 thousand head of cattle controlled in Cunene province, of which 78 percent are owned by traditional breeders.<\/p>\n
