Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary general of the Revolutionary United Youth of Angola (JURA), Manuel Armando da Costa Ekuikui, announced this Wednesday, in Luanda, the withdrawal of this youth organization from the National Youth Council (CNJ).<\/b><\/p>\n

The official was speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of 33 members of the executive secretariat of JURA, having pointed out, as justification for the abandonment of this youth platform, the current costumes of the CNJ.<\/p>\n

According to the secretary, the current costume does not correspond with the expectations and yearnings of the Angolan youth.<\/p>\n

He added that JURA will return to the deliberative and executive bodies of the CNJ when this youth platform in Angola returns to the purpose and spirit of its creation.<\/p>\n

“As of today, I want to announce the suspension of all functions of JURA in the deliberative and executive bodies of the CNJ”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the national secretary for organization, Elvercia Chitunda, expressed JURA’s intention, starting this month, to strengthen relations with various civil society organizations, with a view to working to strengthen citizenship.<\/p>\n

He added that the organization will work to dimension the civic space, with a view to strengthening freedoms, through dialogue, raising the civic awareness of the youth of the party, in particular, and of the country in general.<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony results from the 5th ordinary congress of the youth organization of UNITA that elected, last March, Manuel Armando da Costa Ekuikui as the new leader of JURA.<\/p>\n

JURA was founded on July 18, 1974, by David Jonata\u0303o, who was its first president.<\/p>\n
