Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The representative of the National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC-SA) in Huambo, Benvindo Serafim “Ti Chini”, this Thursday encouraged culture makers to register their works before publication, to avoid plagiarism.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to press, about the situation of artists and composers affiliated to UNAC- Sociedade de Autores, he said that record works, lyrics and other works must always be documented, to avoid that, after the public release, other individuals, inside and outside of the country, call themselves true authors of the idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have registered cases of artists who are in a studio recording a song for a project and, before launching it on the market, the same work is already being played or sung in other circles\u201d, denounced the person in charge.<\/p>\n

This practice, according to Ti Chini, has fraudulently enriched some artists and impoverished others, hence the need for cultural agents to start registering their works at UNAC-SA, regardless of typology, so that whenever they feel victims of plagiarism or other infringement, are entitled to notify the organization’s legal office.<\/p>\n

He appealed to artists to apply for their professional portfolios at the Portfolio Commission, to facilitate litigation, including the receipt of dividends in case the songs are played in commercial spaces, including hotels, bars and other platforms, with a focus on increasing of the social security contribution.<\/p>\n

He informed that for registration it is necessary to deliver an identification process, the work on disk, memory card or pendrive and the lyrics of the songs.<\/p>\n

Concert halls improve exhibition of works<\/p>\n

According to the official, the start-up of the Huambo Cultural Centre, scheduled for next August, will improve the exhibition and presentation of diverse works, such as theatre, music, dance and cinema, produced by local artists, within the scope of promoting the cultural industry. from the province.<\/p>\n

He added that the center will also improve and dignify the quality of the work of artists in Huambo, thus allowing the appearance of many theater groups, which disappeared due to the difficulty of showrooms.<\/p>\n

UNAC in Huambo province controls more than 800 artists, with only 30 having a professional license.<\/p>\n
