Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>he president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, reaffirmed, this Thursday, in Luanda, the engagement of African parliamentarians in the continuous efforts for the maintenance of peace, development and social justice in the continent.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, after participating in the 14th conference of the leaders of the Francophone Parliamentary Assemblies in Africa, Carolina Cerqueira advanced that these are principles that Angola adopts in its current parliamentary diplomacy.<\/p>\n

According to the parliamentary leader, during the three days, the meeting also discussed issues related to the fight against hunger, poverty and misery in Africa, problems that affect the sustainable development of communities.<\/p>\n

Considering Angola’s participation in the event to be positive and successful, Carolina Cerqueira said that it also served to strengthen bilateral relations with parliaments in the Francophone zone, as well as in Guinea-Bissau and Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, delegations with which they agreed strategies for greater intervention by Portuguese-speaking deputies on the continent.<\/p>\n

During the event, he said, the delegation of the National Assembly (AN) presented information on the action of President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o for the consolidation of peace in the Central African Region, in particular in the eastern zone of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).<\/p>\n

Carolina Cerqueira stressed that she had taken the opportunity to explain to Francophone parliamentary leaders the purpose of the Angolan military contingent to be sent, shortly, to the DRC to help with the cantonment and demobilization of the M23 forces, taking into account Angola’s experience in terms of peace and security .<\/p>\n

During the event, parliamentarians analyzed topics such as climate change, autonomy and participation of young people in political life, the promotion of democracy, gender equality, energy and water, among others.<\/p>\n

The delegation of the National Assembly included deputy A\u0302ngela Braganc\u0327a, Alcides Sakala, Milonga Manuel Bernardo, consultants and officials of the Angolan Parliament.<\/p>\n
