Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, recommended this Tuesday, in Luanda, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) a larger organization, to continue achieving greater successes in diplomacy.<\/b><\/p>\n

The holder of the Executive Power was speaking at the opening of the IX Extended Consultative Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to take place until the 13th of this month, the institution responsible for executing the State’s foreign policy.<\/p>\n

In his speech, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o also spoke of the ongoing training of diplomats and officials of this ministerial department, which should be at the center of concerns.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to get the most out of the Vena\u0302ncio de Moura Diplomatic Academy, in the rotation of ambassadors in charge of the diplomatic mission and the rest of the diplomatic staff\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He declared that between two missions abroad, while waiting for others, ambassadors should work in the ministry, be busy in different directions or give lectures at the Diplomatic Academy, in order to transmit their experience.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he recommended the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Finance to be more concerned with taking care of Angola’s assets abroad.<\/p>\n

He referred, above all, to the existing real estate assets, such as chancellery buildings, residences for employees and land for construction, whose works sometimes take years to start.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll this heritage must be better managed, conserved and monetised\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

The advisory council takes place under the motto “MIREX and Angolan diplomatic action in the current international context: challenges and perspectives” and aims to carry out a periodic assessment of performance in the field of foreign policy and diplomacy.<\/p>\n

The event, which ends on Thursday (the 13th), also aims to assess the degree of coordination between MIREX structures and government partners, plan activities for the current year, reinforce internal organization and analyze the main issues of international politics.<\/p>\n

The last council was held in 2019, under the motto \u201cReform and training, a forward-looking vision\u201d.<\/p>\n

Created on November 12, 1975, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the ministerial department responsible for assisting the President of the Republic in the coordination, formulation, planning, execution and evaluation of foreign policy and international cooperation, in all its aspects.<\/p>\n

It is also up to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to defend the country’s interests and protect the rights of its citizens abroad.<\/p>\n
