Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The demand for a printed newspaper to read, in the province of Cunene, has been decreasing gradually, as a result of new information technologies and the constant use of the internet.<\/b><\/p>\n

Quinito Kanhameni, provincial delegate for November Editions at Cunene, said that the region has only one newspaper sales point in Ondjiva, with just 20 subscribers.<\/p>\n

In a statement this Thursday, regarding World Press Day, which is marked on March 13, he said that the demand for printed newspapers is considered small, due to the various digital platforms, use of social networks and the exploitation of satellite television signals.<\/p>\n

According to the official, the province has access to the various titles of the November Editions, with the exception of Tuesdays and Fridays, as a result of an agreement signed with TAAG, with public institutions and the adult population as its main customers.<\/p>\n

He made it known that, these days, 30 to 50 daily copies of Jornal de Angola, Sports, Economy, Culture and the regional newspapers Vento do Sul, Planalto, Angoleme, Nkanda and Luanda are arriving independently.<\/p>\n

With regard to young people, he said that the demand is registered when they are instructed to carry out research work, which, under the guidance of the teacher, flock in droves looking for a printed title.<\/p>\n

Quinino Kanhameni based the art of good writing and the habit of reading, as the main advantages of the printed newspaper, as well as the ease of access and archiving of any information.<\/p>\n

World Press Day was established in 1993 by the United Nations General Assembly in order to encourage its importance in the contemporary world.<\/p>\n

In an era of globalization of information and communication, it is important to remember the beginnings of the press and how it would have been unimaginable without typography (from the Greek typos \u2014 \u201cform\u201d \u2014 and graphein \u2014 \u201cwriting\u201d).<\/p>\n

Recognizing the importance of the press and praising the fundamental right that is freedom of expression is visiting spaces that dignify \u201cblack art\u201d and the value of the press, which constitute fundamental values \u200b\u200bof the date.<\/p>\n
