Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Ma\u0301rio Oliveira, highlighted yesterday, in Luanda, the perfect symbiosis of sport and journalism in contributing to the country’s development.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the 2nd edition of the Journalist’s Soire\u0301e, with the theme: The Role of Social Communication in Prol of National Sport, the official stated that professionals in the sector were fundamental in publicizing victories and even defeats, which allowed Angolans to express up effusively.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalking about sport and journalism implies analyzing a perfect symbiosis. I believe that CEFOJOR was very happy to choose a topic of great dimension and importance. Therefore, we can remember the story about the goal scored by Kigali, in Rwanda, which allowed Angola to reach the World Cup in Germany, in 2006\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

He added that, in addition to this feat, there were others, in which citizens everywhere felt much more Angolan, largely due to the work of publicizing sports journalists.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll professionals contributed to the country feeling pride of citizenship, due to sport and many of them are honored here today\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

At the event, which took place in the courtyard of the Journalism Training Center (CEFOJOR), after the start, a teaser was shown, which portrayed aspects related to sports activities and the work of specialized communication professionals.<\/p>\n

Also preceded by the intervention of the director general of CEFOJOR, Ikuma Bamba, who welcomed the participants, the soire\u0301e included approaches to subjects related to radio, with journalist Anto\u0301nio Clara, written press, Geraldo Quiala, television, Lui\u0301s Caetano, and journalism in general, in which Arlindo Macedo was the speaker.<\/p>\n

This last professional, Arlindo Macedo, focused his explanation on Angolan journalism and the challenges in rescuing the national sporting mystique, with subsidies for colleagues, so that they can invest more in the investigation of their work.<\/p>\n

The participants, who portrayed the historical moments of Angolan sport after independence in 1975, their experiences in coverage and releases, were unanimous in also recognizing the interdependence of the two sectors (sports and journalism).<\/p>\n

The activity, which was also attended by distinguished personalities, such as Ambassador Pedro Hendrick Vaal Neto, ended with a tribute ceremony for 25 sports journalism professionals, some posthumously, with honorable mentions.<\/p>\n

In the list, highlight the deceased journalists Rui de Carvalho, Francisco Simon, Jose\u0301 Mputo Dongala, Carlos Pereira, Jorge Costa, Anto\u0301nio Ferreira Alleluia, Si\u0301lvia Cabral, Ada\u0303o Gabriel, Francisco Gimbe and Jose\u0301 Cola.<\/p>\n

Those present include the names of Victor Silva, Zurema Rodrigues, Mateus Gonc\u0327alves, Manuel Rabelais, Carlos Alberto de Castro Guimara\u0303es, Arlindo Macedo, Tito Gourgel, Massaqui Gama, Jose\u0301 Cunha, Ma\u0301rio Silva, Joa\u0303o Silva Candembo, Lui\u0301s Costa, Carlos Contreiras, Lui\u0301s Caetano and Vaz Kinguri.<\/p>\n

The first edition, within the framework of 20 years of peace, with the theme, the role of the media in building and consolidating peace in Angola, was held in 2022. It also focused on recognizing Angolan journalists as agents in building and promoting a culture of peace in Angola.<\/p>\n
