Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The National Director for Preventing and Combating Corruption at the Attorney General’s Office, Inoce\u0302ncia Maria Pinto, defended yesterday, in Luanda, the need to include subjects on corruption in the academic curriculum at country level.<\/b><\/p>\n

Inoce\u0302ncia Pinto was speaking at the ceremony that marked, this Tuesday, the official launch of the consultation process for the National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC) project, in her capacity as coordinator of the technical sub-group in charge of preparing the aforementioned proposal .<\/p>\n

For Inoce\u0302ncia Pinto, who is also Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, the intention of including matters related to the fight against corruption in the education system aims to prevent such practices.<\/p>\n

According to the magistrate, the consultation process, which begins this month, will take place for 30 days in all provinces of the country.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the proposal aims to allow, from an early age, people to have \u201ccontact with matters related to public probity and the common good\u201d.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Inoce\u0302ncia Pinto recalled that the implementation of actions in the field of combating corruption in Angola \u201chas been bearing fruit\u201d.<\/p>\n

As an example, he highlighted the fact that Angola reached 116th place in the corruption perception index, according to the non-governmental organization Transpare\u0302ncia Internacional, in its report published in January this year.<\/p>\n

Contribution of institutions<\/p>\n

Despite the fact that its content has already been the object of various contributions by public and private institutions, national and foreign, the coordinators believe that it is necessary, within the framework of the principle of participatory democracy, to carry out a process of public consultation at national level.<\/p>\n

This exercise is extended to all natural and legal persons interested in sharing their knowledge for the enrichment and completion of the document.<\/p>\n

The Draft National Strategy for the Prevention and Suppression of Corruption was prepared by a Working Group created in 2019.<\/p>\n

This integrates several public bodies, and is coordinated by the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Ada\u0303o de Almeida, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o.<\/p>\n

The Working Group was also tasked with carrying out studies and preparing proposals and mechanisms for implementing the United Nations Convention against Corruption.<\/p>\n
