Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>With a 2-1 advantage in the play-off of the final, the best of five games, Petro de Luanda’s senior men’s basketball team may, on Wednesday, win its fourth consecutive title, against 1o de Agosto, at 6:30 pm, at the Cidadela Pavilion, in the country’s capital.<\/b><\/p>\n

Winning the race sequentially since 2019, interrupted in 2020, in which it was not played due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it won again in 2021 and 2022, respectively.<\/p>\n

But, the path of conquests of the two biggest clubs in the country goes back a long way in the modality and other sports. Petro has 15 titles, against 19 for 1o de Agosto, the most titled in the country, in 45 editions.<\/p>\n

In the first match of the final, surprisingly, 1o de Agosto won by 71-76, in what was the first defeat by Brazilian coach Jose\u0301 Neto since he took over the command of the \u201ctricolors\u201d.<\/p>\n

In the last two matches they lost, by 90-71 and 97-74, the \u201cRed and Blacks\u201d, coached by Lazare Adingono, showed little \u201cgrit\u201d to face the opponent, who relaunched their aspirations in the tetra.<\/p>\n

1o de Agosto, which in this season has already improved the classification of the previous edition, if they want to postpone Petro’s \u201cparty\u201d, they need to take care of the defensive aspect and correct their external game.<\/p>\n

On Petro’s side, the regularity on the field of the starting five and on the bench, has been the \u201ckey\u201d of the triumphs.<\/p>\n

Despite the disadvantage within the \u201cmilitary\u201d, there is hope of avoiding a new defeat and forcing a final, for Friday, at the same time and place.<\/p>\n
