Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Migratory security in the country depends on greater control and inspection of maritime and river borders, where there is already a considerable flow, defended on Tuesday, in Moc\u0327a\u0302medes, Namibe province, the director general of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), Chief Migration Commissioner Joa\u0303o Anto\u0301nio da Costa Dias.<\/b><\/p>\n

The official was speaking at the end of the methodological meeting on maritime and river borders as part of the body’s 47th anniversary, which marks Wednesday today, stating that control and inspection must be carried out with “well-qualified” personnel equipped with action, to stop border crimes, with emphasis on smuggling.<\/p>\n

In the same vein, he defended the need for greater coordination between maritime and river borders, based on a joint analysis of issues relating to the standardization of migration procedures, harmonization of draft norms and digitalization of services.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is imperative to implement all the technical capacity, so that through concentrated and coordinated action with the other forces involved in controlling national borders, we can design an efficient structure for maintaining internal security in the face of external risks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also underlined that, within the scope of the modernization process of the SME, in progress, it is necessary to standardize and digitize the forms and models in use at maritime and river borders, for requesting various acts such as land pass, access authorizations and manifests.<\/p>\n

He also underlined the need to carry out visits to the port and river units, in order to verify the infrastructure conditions and the functioning of the computer systems installed, for the fulfillment of these desideratums.<\/p>\n

The two-day meeting, according to the source, had the objective of standardizing migration procedures on the inspection of travel documents, as well as establishing a directive to improve efficiency in the control of migratory flows at sea and river border posts.<\/p>\n

Namibe hosts today, the central act of the commemorations of the 47th anniversary of the SME, presided over by the Minister of the Interior, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho.<\/p>\n
