Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A seminar on the management of cultural and natural heritage and museums was held Tuesday, in Gambos, Hui\u0301la province, to raise the awareness of managers, owners and users about their preservation.<\/b><\/p>\n

The training, in which 40 participants took part, took place within the framework of the 18th of April, International Day for Monuments and Sites, marking the provincial event of the event.<\/p>\n

Participants ranged from deputy municipal administrators, directors and heads of the culture department, religious and traditional entities, representatives of state defense and security bodies, heads of section for the social area of \u200b\u200bthe 14 municipalities of the province and chiefs.<\/p>\n

During the training course, the participants received knowledge on matters of protection of the cultural heritage and its legal framework and techniques or handling of instruments for inventorying monuments and sites.<\/p>\n

The instruments for the protection of cultural heritage, in line with international conventions, as well as the National Booklet on tangible and intangible cultural heritage were other topics discussed during the seminar given by the National Institute of Cultural Heritage (INPC).<\/p>\n

Speaking about the training, the director of the provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Hui\u0301la, Osvaldo Lunda, referred that the objective is to take the message to all geographies and not be confined to Lubango.<\/p>\n

According to the director, municipalities can work to elevate their monuments and sites to national heritage, with the provincial office or the INPC available to support communal, municipal administrations and private entities in this mission.<\/p>\n

In turn, the administrator of the Gambos, Francisco Barros Leonardo, said that strengthening the identification of heritage will strengthen the local economy and make the reunion of the populations’ history a fact.<\/p>\n

He stated that the places visited reflect the importance of the country’s culture and the strengthening of national cohesion to educate young people about origins and culture.<\/p>\n

The celebrations of the 18th of April in Hui\u0301la were marked with visits to various monuments since the 15th, with emphasis on the Grutas da Leba, the house of Norton de Matos, in Humpata, the Ombala of Rei dos Gambos, the ruins of the Mission Catholic Church of Thiepepe and the Bunker of the Angolan Armed Forces.<\/p>\n
