Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The memorandum of understanding signed, this Thursday, between the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) and the Catholic University of Angola (UCAN) will guarantee better quality of research reports on socioeconomic studies in the country and help in taking of decision, said Minister Ma\u0301rio Caetano Joa\u0303o.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the minister, who signed the agreement, this protocol is part of a strategy by the MEP to dialogue more and involve the academy in the elaboration of scientific studies of the socioeconomic reality of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom now on, MEP and UCAN will draw up an agenda of possible studies to be developed, and design scientific events for certain issues, from the perspective of academia\u201d, assured Ma\u0301rio Caetano Joa\u0303o.<\/p>\n

In the leader’s view, this instrument will function as an incubator for students, aiming to develop their skills and competences, so that they can not only be servants of internal human resources, but also for the global market, since Angola is in a process of internationalization.<\/p>\n

In this alignment, Ma\u0301rio Caetano Joa\u0303o understands that national staff can become Angola’s \u201csatellites\u201d, in the most diverse multinational institutions, with a view to catapulting the country into access to other global economies.<\/p>\n

For this purpose, the minister calls for boldness and challenges young Angolans to compete in different international public tenders, in organizations such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank and the African Development Bank (ADB).<\/p>\n

The minister added that this protocol will also be signed with the Agostinho Neto University, with the ministry working with the country’s agrarian universities, within the framework of promoting the Program to Support Production, Diversification of Exports and Substitution of Imports (Prodesi).<\/p>\n

In turn, the Rector of the Catholic University of Angola, Maria de Assunc\u0327a\u0303o, considered that this memorandum points the way to a new reality, conciliation between academia, reality and the economic policies developed by the Angolan Executive.<\/p>\n

Likewise, clarifies the signer of the protocol, it will allow students the opportunity to do internships and participate in events with companies, from the MEP, and thus reconcile theory with practice.<\/p>\n

Basics of the memo<\/p>\n

The memorandum of understanding aims at cooperation in sharing information, carrying out professional internships, events and visits, as well as in preparing joint socio-economic studies.<\/p>\n

Among the specific objectives, the inclusion, whenever possible, of UCAN students in field visits carried out by the MEP to assess the sectoral and provincial performance of socio-economic policies, as well as private sector projects, stands out.<\/p>\n

The UCAN, in turn, undertakes to carry out socioeconomic studies, which precede or serve as support for the formulation and implementation of socioeconomic policies to support development, among other actions.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Economy and Planning will finance or co-finance some joint projects and facilitate the insertion of UCAN students and recent graduates in the most diverse international organizations, specialized in economic matters.<\/p>\n
