Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The communes of Kiage, municipality of Bula Atumba and Canacassala, in Nambuangongo, are the areas chosen, in Bengo province, to be part of the pilot census of population and housing to be carried out on 19 July this year by the National Institute of Statistic.<\/b><\/p>\n

Bengo is part of the seven provinces that will carry out the pilot census, along with Luanda, Uige, Bie\u0301, Lunda Norte, Cuando Cubango and Cunene.<\/p>\n

This Wednesday, a multisectoral delegation headed by the director general of the National Statistics Institute, Jose\u0301 Calengi, worked in Bengo province, having met with the deputy governor for the social area, Jose\u0301 Pedro, with whom he addressed issues related to matter.<\/p>\n

Jose\u0301 Calengi explained that the delegation has already been to Kiage commune to find out about access routes, communication and logistics.<\/p>\n

The province of Bengo has an estimated population of 515 thousand 967 inhabitants, of which 258 thousand 736 are men and 257 thousand 231 are women, according to the projection of the Angolan population for the period 2014-2050, resulting from the Census carried out by INE in 2014.<\/p>\n

Dande with 321 thousand 942 inhabitants is the most populous municipality and Pango Aluque\u0301m with 10 thousand 137 inhabitants is the least populated.<\/p>\n

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) plans to register 34 million inhabitants across the country during the 2024 population and housing census.<\/p>\n

To assess the estimate, the institution will carry out, on July 19 of this year, the pilot Census in seven provinces to assess INE’s capacities to carry out the effective operation in 2024, also on July 19.<\/p>\n

The general population and housing census is important for Angola, as it allows to know precisely, for example, the number of inhabitants, how many men, women, children and elderly people, where they live and how they live, information that helps to better plan the distribution of essential services to the population in the country.<\/p>\n
