Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The municipality of Cuilo Cambozo (municipality of Buengas) and the municipal headquarters of Bembe, in Ui\u0301ge province, will be part, in the first phase, of the test of the Pilot Census of population and housing, announced yesterday the director general of the National Institute of Statistics (INE), Jose\u0301 Calengi.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Pilot Census of population and housing will be carried out on the 19th of July this year, in the provinces of Ui\u0301ge, Luanda, Bie\u0301, Lunda Norte, Cuando Cubango and Cunene.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, Jose\u0301 Calengi explained that a multisectoral visit to the province of Ui\u0301ge, until the 27th of this month, aims to assess access routes, communication, housing conditions for technicians and other concerns, so that the population and housing census can take place with success.<\/p>\n

To better assess the number of population and housing, INE will carry out the population and housing census in the country’s 18 provinces. It is expected to register, in 2024, 34 million inhabitants throughout the country.<\/p>\n

And, in turn, the deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic sector of Ui\u0301ge, So\u0301nia Arlete, said that the government will continue to make efforts with the municipal administrations, so that the pilot census takes place successfully.<\/p>\n

The multisectoral commission, in addition to holding a courtesy meeting with deputy governor So\u0301nia Arlete, also visited the car park and the land of the future premises of the Provincial Service of the National Institute of Statistics in Ui\u0301ge.<\/p>\n

To better assess the number of population and housing, INE will carry out the population and housing census in the country’s 18 provinces. It is expected to register, in 2024, 34 million inhabitants throughout the country.<\/p>\n

In 2014, from the 16th to the 31st of May, Angola carried out its first General Population and Housing Census, in which the register estimated 25 million 789 thousand and 24 people, of which six million 945 thousand and 386 live in Luanda.<\/p>\n

Of this population universe, 12 million 499 thousand and 041 are men and 13 million 289 thousand and 983 are women, with Luanda, Benguela, Huambo, Hui\u0301la, Cuanza Sul, Ui\u0301ge and Bie\u0301 being the provinces considered most populous in Angola at the time.<\/p>\n

The general population and housing census is important for Angola, as it allows to know precisely, for example, the number of inhabitants, how many men, women, children and elderly people, where they live and how they live, information that helps to better plan the distribution of essential services to the population in the country.<\/p>\n
