Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, updated the National Civil Protection Commission, which is now coordinated by the Minister of State and Head of the Military House, Francisco Pereira Furtado.<\/b><\/p>\n

The said commission was created under Law no 28\/03, of November 7th – Civil Protection Bases and accepted the necessary changes introduced by Law no 14\/20 of May 22nd.<\/p>\n

According to the update dispatch, made public on the website of the Presidency of the Republic, this Tuesday, the commission has the Minister of the Interior as deputy coordinator and includes the ministers of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, Finance and Territory Administration.<\/p>\n

The ministers of Agriculture and Forestry, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Energy and Water, Transport, Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Health, Environment and Social Action, Family and Women’s Promotion also take part.<\/p>\n

The Ministers of Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing, Education, Industry and Commerce, as well as the Commander General of the National Police, representative of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces, Commander of the Civil Protection and Fire Service and the Director from the National Institute of Meteorology are also part of the commission.<\/p>\n

Basic Law no 28\/03, of November 7, defines civil protection as an activity carried out by the State and citizens with the aim of preventing collective risks inherent in the situation of serious accidents, catastrophes or calamities, of natural or technological origin. and to mitigate or eliminate its effects and help people and their property in danger, when these situations occur.<\/p>\n

Considers that there is a situation of calamity or catastrophes when, in view of the occurrence or danger of occurrence of one or more of the aforementioned events, the need to adopt exceptional measures is recognized and declared to restore normality to living conditions in the affected areas for its effects.<\/p>\n

The civil protection policy has a permanent multidisciplinary and pluri-sectoral nature, with all organs and other structures of the State responsible for promoting the indispensable conditions for its execution.<\/p>\n
