Wednesday, in Luanda, the proposal that amends the Organic Law of the Regulatory Entity of Angolan Media (ERCA).

In a session chaired by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, the legal diploma aimed at clarifying some provisions and reinforcing the role of ERCA, in order to better carry out the functions of regulation and supervision of the media, was examined.

According to the press release, distributed at the end of the session, the diploma also aims to guarantee objectivity, impartiality of information, safeguarding freedom of expression and thought in the press, in harmony with the rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution and other legislation in force.

The said bill will go to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.

The meeting also analyzed the law that amends the Journalist Statute, a legal instrument that aims to adjust the assumptions for access to journalistic activity, as well as strengthening the rights and duties of the class, improving citizens’ access to more plural information, rigorous, impartial and credible, which will also be forwarded to the National Assembly.

Statute of the African Court

The session considered the resolution approving the Protocol on Amendments to the Statute of the African Court of Justice and Human Rights.

This instrument will allow a better organization of the court, for the promotion of peace, good governance and respect for human rights and democratic principles in Africa.

transport market

On the other hand, the resolution approving Angola’s accession to the Solemn Declaration on the Single Market for Air Transport in Africa was also considered.

The instrument aims to contribute to the liberalization of access to the air transport market on the African continent, with strong benefits for the States, namely, the opening of new routes, greater frequency of flights, better connections and lower prices, among others, allowing a greater regional integration and the transformation of Angola into a regional hub.

education sector

The Council of Ministers amended the Remuneration Statute for the Career of Education Agents, with a view to including an additional remuneration in the table of subsidies to which agents in the sector are entitled, known as “Attendency Premium”.

The purpose is thus to promote good professional performance and increase the financial income of Education Agents.

Foreign policy

The Council of Ministers approved the agreement between the Government of Angola and Poland on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports.

This document aims to establish a new partnership and reinforce traditional friendly relations, as well as to promote the development of cooperation between the two countries, in terms of entry, stay, exit and transit through the territory of the other party, without the need for a visa.

The cooperation protocol between the National Police of Angola and the Police Force of Namibia, in police matters, was also endorsed in this session.

This instrument establishes the domains and forms of police cooperation between the National Police of Angola and the Police Service of Namibia, based on the agreement on security and public order, signed between the governments of both countries.

The agreement between the Government of Angola and Côte d’Ivoire on the reciprocal exemption of entry visas for holders of diplomatic and service passports was approved.

The intention is to establish the conditions for the reciprocal exemption of entry visas for nationals of both States, who hold diplomatic and service passports.

The memorandum of understanding on the creation of a bilateral commission between the Government of Angola and the United Republic of Tanzania was also approved.

The aforementioned document aims to establish a mechanism for bilateral consultations at the diplomatic level, in order to promote and expand economic, social, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.

The Council of Ministers also approved the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Diplomatic Academy “Venâncio de Moura”, of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Center for Foreign Affairs of Mozambique, and Tanzania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Africa East of the United Republic of Tanzania.

The diploma aims to promote, for mutual benefit, cooperation in terms of training in the field of diplomacy and the exchange of information on related disciplines.

Conservation of buildings

The Council of Ministers was informed about the survey carried out on the state of maintenance and conservation of public and private buildings throughout the country, as well as those acquired by the State abroad, in order to determine their level of conservation.

The existence of several buildings with an evident lack of preventive and corrective maintenance was verified, some with severe signs of wastewater infiltration and others with signs of structural instability.

With regard to this issue, the Council of Ministers recommended the creation of a Multisectoral Commission which will have the mission of fruitfully monitoring the execution of a Strategic Plan for Intervention in Degraded Buildings.

The objective is to ensure, in a sustainable way, the financial resources for the implementation of the necessary actions for its resolution, particularly the emergency ones, having also been recommended an immediate intervention for the cases whose imminence of ruin is latent.

For More News And Analysis About <a
