Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The National Service for Copyright and Related Rights (SENADIAC) wants greater dissemination of intellectual property rights, for better protection of artistic creations, said its general director, Barros Licencia this Wednesday.<\/b><\/p>\n

The person in charge, who was speaking at the opening of the seminar on the \u201cFunctioning of the National Intellectual Property System\u201d, promoted by the institution for professionals and the Media, expressed dissatisfaction due to the non-use and exploitation of the existing mechanisms of the Intellectual property.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is still no legal awareness on the part of the authors, we will only feel satisfied when we implement SENADIAC services in the last municipality in the country\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

According to the director-general, in Angola the National Intellectual Property Protection System is based on the Constitution of the Republic and specific laws, with SENADIAC, the National Tax Agency (AGT), Criminal Investigation Services (SIC) and the Courts bodies prepared to resolve any illicit act that injures the perpetrator.<\/p>\n

“It gives the author the ability to supervise the misuse of his work, since it is up to the government to create legal mechanisms and protection policies”, he underlined.<\/p>\n

Still in this context, Barros Licencia said that the institution registers an average of 30 requests for the registration of works per year, a number that he considers insignificant.<\/p>\n

In turn, the head of the department for crimes against intangible property at SIC, Sandra Canbangula, in statements, of the existence of 10 cases of violation of industrial property due to trademark infringement, in procedural instruction registered from January to April 2023.<\/p>\n

According to the official, the right of intellectual property is divided into two aspects, being the right of industrial property and the right of authors and relatives, in the light of Law 15\/14.<\/p>\n

He explained that many conflicts end up being resolved through administrative means, with criminal action being taken only when there is no resolution in the first instances such as SENADIAC and AGT.<\/p>\n

As for copyright and related rights, Sandra Cambangula said that the department has not registered any cases so far, having only registered, in 2022, four cases, two literary works and two artistic violations.<\/p>\n

Created by presidential decree 184\/19, the National Service for Copyright and Related Rights (SENADIAC) aims to guarantee creators and other agents integrated in the National System of Copyright and Related Rights the enjoyment of their corresponding rights.<\/p>\n
