Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Prosecutor of the eastern Lunda-Norte province M\u00e1rio Salvador Gama expressed Thursday concern about the situation of violence against children in the region”, adding that this evil requires attention by the justice organs.”<\/p>\n

The appeal was made at the opening ceremony of the first meeting of the Eastern Judiciary Region of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), M\u00e1rio Gama.<\/p>\n

He said that in 2021 the local institution reported 247 cases of maintenance, 247 cases involving minor heirs , 68 of guardianship, 39 of paternal affiliation and seven of criminal prevention, totaling 636 cases.<\/p>\n

According to Magistrate, the number of the cases poses a series of challenges that require the organs in charge of justice to prove their responsibilities.<\/p>\n

He also denounced that some of the parents involved in these cases have leading positions in State organs and are linked to the Defence and Security bodies.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor stressed the need of State institutions to dedicate themselves to the enforcement of children’s rights and create essential conditions for effective protection of minors.<\/p>\n

During two-day event, the magistrates from the provinces of Lunda Norte, Lunda Sul and Moxico are discussing issues such as “Public procurement law as a tool to fight corruption”, “Legal protection of children’s rights” and “The role of the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office in parentage issue”.<\/p>\n

The meeting will also assess the reports of activities conducted in the three provinces.<\/p>\n
