Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The diplomat Maria de Jesus Ferreira delivered, this Thursday, in Lisbon, the credentials to the Portuguese Head of State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.<\/b><\/p>\n

The handing over of the credentials symbolizes the beginning of her duties as an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Angola to the Republic of Portugal.<\/p>\n

Appointed on March 7 of this year by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, Maria de Jesus Ferreira is the first woman to<\/p>\n

hold the position of representative of the Angolan State in Portugal, succeeding Ambassador Carlos Alberto Fonseca.<\/p>\n

Graduated in Law and Master in International Law, the diplomat was, in the period 2018\/2023, Ambassador Extraordinary and<\/p>\n

Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations, having already performed identical functions in the Republic of Austria, with jurisdiction over the<\/p>\n

Republic of Slovenia, Republic of Croatia and Republic of Slovakia.<\/p>\n

He was also Consul General of Angola in the city of Porto.<\/p>\n

Portugal is one of Angola’s main trading partners. Portuguese companies have a strong presence in the Angolan economy, fundamentally in the construction and banking sectors.<\/p>\n

Portugal is also an important exporter of food and beverage products.<\/p>\n

Angola, via private companies, has several investments in Portugal with activities ranging from energy, telecommunications to banking.<\/p>\n
