Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Portuguese writer, Victor Hugo Ma\u0303e, advocated, this Friday, the need for the Portuguese language to serve as a symbol of union and understanding between Portuguese speakers, with a view to sharing thoughts, through a code.<\/b><\/p>\n

In an interview, regarding the World Day of the Portuguese Language, which is being celebrated today, the author of the work “A Dehumanizac\u0327a\u0303o”, understands that the language should be like a place where people meet and are seen equally.<\/p>\n

He said that there is a need to start contributing with new words coming from all latitudes and that can be used within their cultures.<\/p>\n

Victor Hugo Ma\u0303e understands that the Portuguese language began as an imposition and with the intention of remaining pure, but what must prevail is contamination, miscegenation and everything that can be brought to its development.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the importance of the Portuguese language in the context of globalization, due to the large number of speakers.<\/p>\n

In this perspective, he stressed that it is important to value and defend the language, as preserving it denotes much more than just caring for the speech of a people, but also defending what is most precious in the community: the identity of the people, the customs, the history and even the promising future it has.<\/p>\n

In addition to the communities of Macau (China) and Goa (India), the following are the eight Portuguese-speaking countries in the world: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and East Timor.<\/p>\n

As a result, Portuguese is one of the most important languages \u200b\u200bin the world. It has more than 265 million speakers, which makes this language the third most spoken in the linguistic universe, behind only English and Spanish.<\/p>\n

It is an important vehicle of communication for the peoples that make up the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries.<\/p>\n

Victor Hugo Ma\u0303e is the author of several literary works, notably \u201cSons of a Thousand Men\u201d, \u201cThe Diseases of Brazil\u201d, \u201cThe Apocalypse of Workers\u201d and \u201cO Remorso de Baltazar\u201d.<\/p>\n

The 5th of May, Portuguese Language Day, was officially established in 2009 by the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).<\/p>\n
