Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>After an apathetic morning, the National Team ended on a high, on Thursday, the second day of the African Championship in zone IV, which ends Sunday, in Luanda, with 19 medals, five (14) more than in the debut.<\/b><\/p>\n

With that, the national combined remains in second place in the general table of medals, now with nine gold, five silver and the same number of bronze, making a total of 33 in the two days of competition.<\/p>\n

Among the gold medals, stands out the one obtained by Silve\u0301rio Manuel (2.54.13), in the 200m breaststroke, relegating the silver to the Mozambican Mason Cohen (2.45.77) and the bronze to the Namibian Liam Kinnaird (2.45.71 ).<\/p>\n

Another reference was Marco Furtado, who took the gold in the 50m butterfly (29.02), after having won the bronze medal in the 2022 edition, in Zambia.<\/p>\n

Marco, surpassed the Namibian Lorenzo Esterhuizen, second place (29.02) and the Mozambican, Abdul dos Santos, third place (29.72).<\/p>\n

In the 200m freestyle, the athlete Herinque Mascarenhas beat the competition (1.56.50), having been seconded by the Mozambican Kaio Faftine (1.59.54), while the Namibian Marco Henning took bronze (1.59.86).<\/p>\n

In females, the national highlight fell to Nyriam Morais who won her first medal (gold in the 50m butterfly), after coming out in “blank” in the 2022 edition.<\/p>\n

In this race, Nyriam, who clocked (30.99), beat Stephanie Jurado (31.20) and the Twanese Melodi Saleshando (32.00), in the second and third places, respectively.<\/p>\n

The national team also shone in the men’s (3.36.05) and women’s 4×100 meter freestyle relay (4.14.14).<\/p>\n

With this record, Angola remains in second place with 33 medals. Namibia ranks first with 60 while Mozambique is third with 22.<\/p>\n

This Friday morning, a half-distance test is planned in the 400m freestyle, in addition to the 100m breaststroke and butterfly and 50m backstroke and freestyle.<\/p>\n
