Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The secretary of the PRS in Huambo province, Anto\u0301nio Soliya Selende, condemned, this Friday, in the municipality of Bailundo, the deadly act of riot carried out by faithful of the religious sect \u201cA Luz do Mundo\u201d, last April.<\/b><\/p>\n

The supporter was speaking to the press, after an audience with the commander of the National Police in the municipality of Bailundo, superintendent Jose\u0301 Bongo Zeca, to find out about the riots that took place in the village of Uchia, commune of Lunge, which caused the death of an agent of the police corporation.<\/p>\n

According to Anto\u0301nio Soliya Selende, this is a reprehensible action at all levels, as churches have the mission of appeasing people and transmitting the word of God to citizens.<\/p>\n

For the politician, it is \u201ca belligerent group\u201d that threatens social peace, insofar as, in addition to the accusation of acts of riot, it is said that they are also involved in the undue receipt of land from the population in the village.<\/p>\n

“It is unacceptable that more human lives are lost in 21 years of peace, by a religious sect, which should be controlled, despite Angola being a secular state”, he said.<\/p>\n

Therefore, Anto\u0301nio Soliya Selende appealed to the Angolan Government’s need to impose greater rigor and caution in the recognition of churches, taking into account that not all preach the word of God and goodness.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from the National Police Command in Huambo, the act took place when agents of the corporation were trying to comply with a warrant for the arrest of some individuals from the religious sect “A Luz do Mundo”, currently led by Isaac Jose\u0301 Fernando, accused of crimes of threat and intimidation of the population, incitement to violence and misappropriation of cultivation fields.<\/p>\n

According to the police version, the Public Prosecutor’s Office had already issued several arrest warrants and ordered their appearance, but without success, which subsequently led to the order for the arrest of the said individuals, headed by Isaac Jose\u0301 Fernando, who “resisted the action of forces, with the use of blunt objects”.<\/p>\n

The Police version adds that the act resulted in the death of three individuals, including the communal commander of the Lunge, as well as injuring other members of the sect.<\/p>\n

So far, it has not been possible to hear the version of the accused, including their leader Isaac Jose\u0301 Fernando, who remain uncertain.<\/p>\n

This is the second time in eight years that members of that sect have engaged in acts of civil disobedience that resulted in death.<\/p>\n

On April 16, 2015, on Mount Sumi, Caa\u0301la municipality, Huambo province, led by Jose\u0301 Julino Kalupeteka, they murdered nine National Police agents and the delegate of the State Intelligence and Security Service in that district.<\/p>\n

As a result, the Provincial Court of Huambo sentenced, in 2016, the then leader of that religious sect, Jose\u0301 Julino Kalupeteka, to a sentence of 28 years in prison, reduced by the Supreme Court to 23 years.<\/p>\n
