Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>More than 30,000 head of cattle in Moxico province are at risk of contamination due to the vulnerability to which they are exposed, said yesterday, in Luena, the head of the local Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Flora, Benjamim Jose\u0301.<\/b><\/p>\n

It is estimated that the province of Moxico has 31,000 head of cattle controlled by 500 breeders.<\/p>\n

Benjamim Jose\u0301 considered that livestock activity in the province is worrying, taking into account the lack of technicians and means of transport for the proper monitoring of the animals.<\/p>\n

According to the official, who was speaking at the closing of the board of directors of this office, this factor has made it impossible to control the movement of animals, as well as the implementation of the vaccination campaign, making the animal population more vulnerable to diseases.<\/p>\n

The head of the Veterinary Services section, Salvador Gaieta, maintained that the entry and movement of animals in border areas has provided the spread of diseases, with a predominance of pleuropneumonia.<\/p>\n

The most affected regions, according to the official, are the municipalities of Alto-Zambeze, Bundas, Cameia, Leua and Moxico (headquarters), specifically in the commune of Lucusse.<\/p>\n

The province of Moxico shares a border of 1,77 kilometers by land and river with the neighboring Republics of Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).<\/p>\n
