Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Two billion and 100 million kwanzas have already been made available, since 2020, in Malanje, by the \u201cKwenda\u201d Social Protection Strengthening Programme, to support 40,567 families in vulnerable situations, from four of the 14 municipalities in the province.<\/b><\/p>\n

These amounts have contributed to stimulating the local economy and improving the living conditions of the families covered by the program, of which 4,0120 from the municipality of Quirima, 7,492 from Cambundi-catembo, 17,163 from Calandula and 10,553 from Luquembo.<\/p>\n

The information was provided, Saturday, by the director of the Local Development Institute (FAS), Gomes Golambole, during the act of handing over two installments of Kwenda to 10,553 families in the municipality of Luqueembro, worth 51,000 kwanzas each, corresponding to six months.<\/p>\n

In addition to delivering values, the program has also worked on other components such as the Municipalization of Social Action and the Single Social Registry, with the implementation of Productive Inclusion being in the pipeline, which aims to encourage income-generating activities within families.<\/p>\n

He recalled that, since the start of the program, 1,800 families have been excluded for not meeting the eligibility criteria. Among those responsible for eliminated households were civil servants and people with monthly income above the national minimum wage.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the administrator of Luquembo, Joa\u0303o Baptista, underlined the importance of the Social Protection Strengthening Program in reducing the vulnerability of assisted families and called for the rational use of the amounts made available.<\/p>\n

Operationalized by the Local Development Fund (FAS), Kwenda was created in 2020 by the Angolan Executive, with a view to creating policies to support the most vulnerable families.<\/p>\n

The program is valued at US$420 million and is funded by the World Bank with US$320 million. The other 100 million come from the National Treasury.<\/p>\n
