Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The extraordinary meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the SADC Double Troika with the contributing countries with personnel from the Intervention Force Brigade (FIB) addressed, this Sunday, in the Namibian capital, Windhoek, the prevailing security situation in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).<\/b><\/p>\n

The meeting also appreciated the Report of the SADC Assessment Mission on the ground in the eastern part of this country, as well as the SADC Contingency Operational Plan for assistance to the DRC.<\/p>\n

Also on the table was the discussion on the position of the organization in the Tripartite Summit SADC-CEEAC and IRGL, with the intervention of the UN and the African Union, aimed at forging a coordinated approach to restoring security in the East of the DRC.<\/p>\n

The prevailing situation in the eastern provinces of the DRC was analysed, which had deteriorated over the last year after the M23 Group relaunched its attacks.<\/p>\n

This fact has had consequences, with intense armed activities by the M23 and other armed groups, especially in the provinces of North-Kivu, South-Kivu and Ituri.<\/p>\n

The meeting welcomed multisectoral ministerial delegations from Angola, South Africa, Namibia, Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Zambia.<\/p>\n

The Angolan delegation was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, who will also represent the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, at the Extraordinary Summit of the Troika of the SADC Body plus the Contributing Countries with FIB personnel, to be held Monday (8) of the current month.<\/p>\n
