Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Fatherland, Joa\u0303o Ernesto dos Santos, reaffirmed, this Tuesday, the duty of the Angolan State to defend the Fatherland, preserve peace and democratic institutions.<\/b><\/p>\n

For this purpose, Joa\u0303o Ernesto dos Santos considered it necessary for the country to have<\/p>\n

well-prepared troops.<\/p>\n

The minister was speaking at a military parade, in Cuando Cubango province, before troops from the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) who took part Tuesday in tactical maneuvers by military brigades, as part of the annual training of troops.<\/p>\n

The manoeuvre, witnessed by the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the FAA, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, aimed to assess the combat readiness of the forces and means available to the national army.<\/p>\n

The army must also have a continuous combat preparation in the different contexts of conflicts still latent in the southern and central region of Africa, said the minister.<\/p>\n

“For this reason, we praise the courage, determination, spirit of the body and mission demonstrated by all those involved in the tactical maneuver of the brigade”, expressed the official.<\/p>\n

According to Joa\u0303o Ernesto dos Santos, the capacity and professionalism shown by the troops should inspire actions in the present and in the future.<\/p>\n

Held at the Poli\u0301gono de Soba Matias, in Menongue, Cuando Cubango, in an area of \u200b\u200b10,500 hectares created for this purpose, the maneuver involved the participation of a motorized infantry brigade from the Army, personnel from the Air Force and the Navy of war.<\/p>\n

The military exercise, with real combat shooting, also aimed to maintain high operational levels and reinforce the unity and cohesion of the Angolan Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

The combat modality was a fictitious counter-offensive to annihilate a possible enemy invasion in the national territory with the landing of special troops.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (10), the last day of the 48-hour visit to Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango, the President of the Republic will lead a meeting that will address the general situation of the Angolan Armed Forces in its multiple facets.<\/p>\n
